Entry & assessment criteria
The ACSW steering committee is charged with creating a sustainable structure that recognises and builds on the diversity of professional expertise among AASW members. Acknowledging this breadth of expertise, we have developed new pathways for members to gain ACSW membership. This includes changes being made to the application forms, processes and documentation required to support the application.
Two pathways have been developed: Applicants through Pathway A must hold either a post-qualifying Masters or a Doctoral degree which is directly relevant to social work, while applicants through Pathway B must be able to provide a portfolio demonstrating advanced professional practice.
In addition, all applicants must be members of the AASW, have a minimum of five years professional experience following graduation and be able to demonstrate attainment of AASW continuing professional development requirements for the previous two financial years. All applicants will need to nominate two referees who can attest to the quality of the applicant’s advanced professional practice.
