Australian College of Social Work

Promoting and advancing excellence in Australian social work

The Australian College of Social Work promotes and advances excellence in Australian social work practice. Established in 2011 within the Australian Association of Social Workers, the College recognises and acknowledges the highest professional standards and qualifications that social workers offer and promotes social work leadership and expertise.

Since early 2013 the College’s progress has been driven by the Steering Committee. In that time we coordinated a webinar based professional development program, revised the entrance and application processes for new members and contributed to the AASW National Symposia. We have also developed guidelines for the establishment of specialist divisions and emerging communities of practice. We are still developing so we welcome any additional ideas from our experienced members.

I would like to thank all the members of the Steering Committee, especially my co-Chair Carmel Flaskas, for their support and hard work in recent years. I encourage you to browse through the pages on the site to learn more about the College and future developments.

I look forward to meeting members and working with you all to develop the Australian College of Social Work as an important institution for social work excellence.

Warm wishes,

Professor Lesley Chenoweth
Chair ACSW Steering Committee
