The Board of the AASW continuously works to meet the many needs of our 6500 members across a very wide range of membership services, throughout urban, rural and remote Australia, within the budget of membership fees and some ancillary income.
The branches, committees and boards of the AASW are the lifeblood of our Association. It is very important to the National Board and to all members of the AASW that there is good communication between the branches, committees and boards of the AASW.
I am delighted to announce that Colin Benjamin, life member of the AASW, has received an Order of Australia in the 2012 Australia Day Awards. Dr Benjamin has received an Order of Australia for his outstanding service to the community for his work for "Life. Be in It" and in community service and business organisations. Congratulations to you Colin, it is great to see your excellent contributions to the community being recognised.

The Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS) Review is progressing well.
Our thanks to everyone who contributed to the first phase consultation during 2011. A summary of the key issues arising from the first phase consultation process will be uploaded to the ASWEAS Review web page early in the new year.
Members are invited to respond to the 2011-2012 CPD Policy discussion paper. The paper outlines issues identified in the current trial policy and poses questions to help identify how CPD can be improved for all members. Our thanks to members who have already provided feedback, many of your ideas and comments have informed the paper.
The Directors' Report and Financial Statements for the 2010-11 financial year have now been audited and given a clean audit report. You will find the report, statement and audit reports by following this link.
