Next week AASW members can expect to receive two copies of the Special Membership Edition of the National Bulletin. No, it is not an accident or a mistake; you are supposed to receive two copies of this special edition of the National Bulletin, so please, “Give One Away”.
It has long been recognised that the best way to introduce someone new to any association is through someone who is already a member. We are very aware that many of our members already actively promote the AASW, and the many services we provide in your work places, as well as through your professional networks and sometimes your friends and family. We have produced this special membership edition of the National Bulletin to help make that task a little easier.
By you giving a copy of the Bulletin to a friend or colleague who is not a member, as a way of introducing them to membership and the benefits it brings. New members can join the AASW by joining online at www.aasw.asn.au, by phoning 1800 630 124, or by completing a paper form as also enclosed in this pack.
This special edition covers many of the activities we undertake; firstly for members in networking and maintaining their competency as a professional social worker - such as Branches, CPD, the College, and Practice Standards, and secondly; the activities we undertake to maintain the respect for the profession as an essential and integral part of the wider Australian health sector - such as better access, university course accreditation, ethics, the Australian Social Work Journal, and advocacy for campaigns such as fair pay and registration of social workers.
Finally we would like to say that we appreciate and value your support for the AASW as a member. We know that membership is expensive but we also know that members value the very wide range of services the Association provides. Thank you.
