Dear [FirstName]
Critical step towards fair pay for community-sector workers
On the 10th November, Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced that the Federal government would join the union to make a submission to Fair Work Australia which would see Australia’s social and community-sector workers get pay rises of between 19 and 42 per cent.
To resolve the union’s equal pay case currently before the authorities, the Government has committed $2billion over six years to the community sector.
Australia's peak community and social services body, the Australian Council of Social Services, has released a statement about the significance of the announcement. Read the full ACOSS media release.
Kind regards,
Peter
