Statutory regulation of the Social Work profession is a key priority of the national board. The National Regulation Committee (NRC) has accordingly been pursuing a clear political strategy to achieve statutory regulation within a five year time frame. The strategy of the NRC will be focused on the community services portfolio areas of government and a ‘meet and greet’ schedule with State Ministers is now being rolled out across . The NRC’s strategy is dovetailed with the association’s plans to improve self regulation in preparation for statutory regulation. It will also involve establishing broader alliances to achieve more effective workforce planning and regulation in the whole of the human services sector.

To enable members to get up to speed on the initiatives around statutory regulation, a panel has been convened to address the group and then answer questions from members. The panel will consist of Karl Charikar, Senior Manager Communications and Advocacy and NRC member, Jim Poulter, Victorian Branch representative on the NRC. It promises to be both an informative and stimulating discussion, so make your booking early for Social Work Day and come and celebrate the day. We'd love to see you there.
