Full Event Description

Erla Newhouse is an individual, Couple and Family therapist and an accredited Mental Health Social Woker.
She has over 14 years of experience working in the area of grief, loss and bereavement. Currently Erla works in
Private Practice with individuals, children, couples and families experiencing loss as a result of a death and or other
life circumstances. She also provides clinical supervision for bereavement counsellors and Social Workers.
Her interest in bereavement lead her to complete her masters thesis on the Impact of the Death of a child on
the couple relationship.
Erla has worked in a number of organisations including JewishCare, Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals
(SSWAHS) as the Bereavement Services Coordinator. She has also worked as a grief counseller at the institute of
Forensic Medicine and Liverpool Community Health Centre. She has run bereavement support groups and workshops for people who are bereaved.
Erla has always enjoyed teaching in the area of grief and loss; she has presented at the International Grief and
Bereavement and State Palliative Care Conferences. She has also taught educaton sessions and workshop for
Psychologists, medical and nursing students, volunteers and other health professionals.
