Full Event Description
This course is for practitioners looking to develop their skills in working with couples who present with common and often challenging relationship problems, specifically in areas of infidelity, ambivalence and separation issues.
The following areas will be explored:
A theoretical understanding of infidelity and how to effectively help couples manage the crisis and rebuild the couple relationship after an affair
Working effectively with couples who are ambivalent – should I stay or should I go?
Conducting couple counselling when separation has become the focus
Managing post-separation conflict while maintaining a therapeutic relationship
Ways to practice with a child-inclusive focus in the context of couple counselling.

Geraldine McKay BSW, MSW, AMHSW. Geraldine is a Social Worker and trained Couple and Family Therapist. She conducts training courses for the Centre for Community Welfare and Training and has extensive experience as a clinical social worker who has worked with individuals, couples, families and communities both in the public sector and in private practice.
Pamela Seraskeris BSW, MA (CFT), AMHSW. Pamela is a Social Worker and a Couple and Family Therapist. She has worked ina variety of settings primarily in the areas of counselling and adult education. She is a skilled facilitator and provides training, consultation and supervision to individuals and organisations. Pamela currently works in the public sector and in private practice.
