ASWEAS Review update
The Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS) Review is progressing well.
Our thanks to everyone who contributed to the first phase consultation during 2011. A summary of the key issues arising from the first phase consultation process will be uploaded to the ASWEAS Review web page early in the new year. An interim report summarising the data from the first phase consultation was submitted to the AASW Board and was considered at the December 2011 Board meeting.
The ASWEAS Review Reference Group has recommended that some of the timeframes for the ASWEAS Review be extended to ensure that the review is linked to and informed by other current important activities for the profession and the education sector generally. This includes the AASW Practice Standards Review, which is currently underway, as well as further engagement with the current work of the Australian College of Social Work, which is concerned with the development of advanced education and practice standards for the profession.
The ASWEAS Review Reference Group will be meeting in February 2012 to progress the work arising from the first phase consultation, and to determine the remaining stages and timeframes of the review. A second phase of consultation will follow in 2012.
We will keep you informed via e-Bulletins and the National Bulletin, and please continue to check the ASWEAS Review web page for latest updates.
