Are you eligible for membership?

Membership of the AASW is available to applicants holding either an AASW approved social work qualification from an Australian tertiary institution or qualifications from overseas that have been recognised by the AASW as comparable to an AASW approved social work qualification. Find out more.

Membership Options

Full Fee

For: Applicants holding either an AASW approved social work qualification from an Australian tertiary institution, or qualification from overseas that has been recognised by AASW comparable to an AASW approved social work qualification.

Reduced income

For: The AASW provides for a reduced fee to members with a combined taxable income below a low income threshold ($40,000.00) to enable them to remain a member and ensure their full participation in professional social work as a member of the AASW. Reduced fee members are entitled to access all of the services and benefits of a full member of AASW.

New Graduate

For: Members renewing or joining within 2 years of completion of their first qualifying Social Work degree.

Retired Fee

For: Applicants holding either an AASW approved social work qualification from an Australian tertiary institution, or qualification from overseas that has been recognised by AASW comparable to an AASW approved social work qualification, fully retired from paid employment and eligible for a full pension.

Student Fee

For: Students enrolled in an AASW accredited BSW or MSW (qualifying) and those already eligible for AASW membership and undertaking full time Masters or Doctoral social work studies.
