What We Do
ASWEAS Review
The Australian Association of Social Workers is the body responsible for the accreditation of social work programs in Australian universities. Accreditation is the mechanism whereby social work programs in Australian universities are reviewed against the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS), the national standards for social work education in Australia.
The Standards ensure that graduating Social Workers have the skills, knowledge and values to successfully enter the profession and to work in a range of contexts.
The AASW is currently undertaking an ASWEAS Review. A first round of national consultation on the Standards has now been completed. This data will be collated and analysed, with a second round of national consultation to follow later this year.
We encourage you to get involved and be a part of shaping the social work education standards in Australia.
