Country Guidelines - United Kingdom

  • Relevant first degree followed by one year postgraduate diploma or master in social work (with CQSW)
    This is usually assessed as requiring a one year program in an Australian AASW-accredited social work degree course to meet AASW membership eligibility requirements (However, with substantial professional social work experience, the work experience aspect of Essential Criterion Five may apply).
  • Four-year Bachelor degrees which include the CQSW (as part of required four year program of study)
    Usually assessed as meeting AASW membership eligibility requirements.
  • 'Not relevant' degree followed by two-year postgraduate diploma/master (with CQSW or DipSW)
    Supplementary Education Program usually recommended to meet AASW membership eligibility requirements. Individual assessment.
  • Two-year non graduate CQSW or diploma in higher education with DipSW
    Usual recommendation is to seek advanced standing in AASW-accredited Bachelor of Social Work degree course in Australia, completion of which would meet AASW membership eligibility requirements.
  • Certificate in Social Service (CSS)
    Usual recommendation is to seek advanced standing in AASW-accredited Bachelor of Social Work degree course in Australia completion of which would meet AASW membership eligibility requirements.
  • Relevant bachelor degree followed by two-year postgraduate diploma or master degree in social work (with CQSW OR DipSW)
    Usually assessed as meeting AASW membership eligibility requirements.
  • Three-year degree in social work (often CQSW or DipSW followed by extra year, specifically in social work, can also be three year degree including DipSW)
    This is usually assessed as requiring a further program of study in an Australian AASW-accredited social work degree course to meet AASW membership eligibility requirements (However, with substantial professional social work experience, the work experience aspect of Essential Criterion Five may apply).
  • Non-graduate CQSW or Diploma in Higher Education (with DipSW) in combination with a relevant (non-social work) degree
    Individual assessment which usually recommends appropriate further study program in an Australian AASW-accredited social work degree course in order to meet AASW membership eligibility requirements.
