Country Guidelines - United States of America

Individual assessment of courses and combination of courses, according to the Five Essential Assessment Criteria.

Only combinations of degrees which include a Master of Social Work are recognised as meeting AASW membership eligibility requirements and all Master degrees are to be assessed individually.
  • Bachelor of Social Work degree which is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
    Individual assessment which recommends appropriate study program to be undertaken in Australian AASW-accredited social work degree course, which will usually include a placement.
  • Master of Social Work where there was a generic year followed by a concentration year
    Where the program was accredited by the CSWE at the time of graduation, AND AASW requirements for field-work placement were met, AND the Master degree follows relevant Bachelor degree, is usually assessed as meeting AASW membership eligibility requirements.
  • Master of Social Work with concentration in both years
    Individual assessment.
  • Bachelor and Master of Social Work not accredited by the CSWE
    Individual assessment
