Purpose of the College
The Australian College of Social Work promotes leadership in practice excellence and acknowledges and promotes advanced social work practice.
Being a member of the College allows social workers who have achieved expertise in their own specialised areas of practice to continue to develop their professional identity and to gain recognition for themselves and the profession. Membership provides them with opportunities to build communities of shared professional interests and expertise and to continue to develop context-specific advanced knowledge and skills.
Our aim is to establish high professional standards through strong leadership and by making thoughtful and focused contributions to social work knowledge and skills’ development within the areas in which social workers practice in Australia. The College provides opportunities for its members to identify and discuss emerging issues for the social work profession.
