Applicants with New Zealand social work qualifications

Some New Zealand qualified applicants may be eligible to apply for:

  • Assessment of New Zealand social work qualifications under the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) for employment purposes in Australia (AASW membership eligibility)
  • Assessment of New Zealand social work qualification under the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) for migration skills assessment purposes.

Please note: Applicants for either/both of the above assessments are required to meet the AASW's English Language Requirements as outlined into AASW English Language Policy.

Please read the further information below to ascertain eligibility. Applicants who receive a successful AASW membership eligibility assessment under the MRA are eligible for free AASW membership for the remainder of the Australian financial year (which runs from 1 July through to 30 June) in which their assessment was undertaken.

*Assessment of social work qualifications under the MRA for migration skills assessment - use application form 5.

Please note as of 1 April 2016 the NZSWRB will be charging a fee for the requests of ‘Certificates of Good Standing’. Applicants will be invoiced by the NZSWRB for the fee. Once paid by the Applicant, the Certificate of Good Standing will be issued to AASW to finalise the MRA application.
