The AASW has launched the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS) 2017 after an extensive review of the 2012 framework. The ASWEAS launched August 2017 is undergoing refinement. In the meantime, the ASWEAS 2012 (2015 addition) will remain in place until advised further.
Please contact Simon Kuut (03 9320 1018, email@example.com) if you have any questions about the ASWEAS 2017.
The AASW's review of ASWEAS 2012 addressed the structure of the framework and improved the reporting and accreditation processes. It also explored the growth in the number of social work courses, resource pressures and changing technology.
The aim was to articulate the requirements of Higher Education Providers to achieve and maintain professional accreditation and produce two documents and more clearly articulate the agreed regulatory role of the AASW:
- The ASWEAS 2017, which is now in one document
- The Accreditation and review manual. This document is a work-in-progress.
The 2017 launch
