International Professional Exchange Programs

Council of International Fellowship - Australia (CIF AU) provides social workers and related human services professionals with development and training through cross-cultural, cross-continental professional exchange.  It is a non-profit, voluntary, incorporated association formed in 2006 and is one of more than 30 national branches of CIF International.

CIF offers international exchange programs for social workers from around the world. The goal of the exchange is to give participants an understanding of the social, economic and cultural conditions of the country, which the participants choose to visit.

Exchange programs are offered by numerous countries including Australia. A typical international exchange program offers:

  • Introduction to another culture.
  • Opportunity to meet social work professionals from around the world.
  • Orientation to another local social welfare system.
  • Opportunity to be part of typical family life and customs while aboard.
  • Exposure to field work and professional development experiences in another country.
  • Participation in the evaluation of your chosen CIF program.

If you are interested and wish to participate you can join the conversation in the discussion forum below. Please also have a look at the CIF AU website for more information on different programs around the world, eligibility criteria, and how to apply: http://www.cifaustralia.org/programs
