The development of AASW's Advanced Supervision Program was a direct response to the recommendations put forth in recent Coronial reports, Royal Commission reports, and State Ombudsman reports. These reports underscored the critical necessity for advanced supervision within the realm of frontline social work and the inadequacies in quality supervision training and support.
Starting on 12 March 2024, this 6-week, evidence-based Advanced Supervision Learning Program has been thoughtfully designed with a blended learning methodology. The 20-hour program encompasses self-paced eLearning, online collaborative workshops, instructor-led Masterclasses, and Coaching Circles to provide a comprehensive learning experience. This program is tailored to the Family Violence sector.

Upon completion of the program, 20 hours of CPD activity: Category 2, skills and knowledge will be provided that can be linked towards AASW Supervisor and Family Violence CPD Goals

The program offers a combination of self-paced learning and facilitator-led sessions. The following program overview provides an outline of the entire learning journey, including the schedules for e-learning and the facilitator-led sessions conducted via Zoom. Please note that all session timings are based on the AEDT/AEST timezone. It's worth mentioning that all facilitator-led sessions will be recorded, with the exception of the two coaching circles (indicated in green).
Facilitator:
Abbey is an AASW registered Accredited Family Violence Social Worker, MSW. She has worked within the family violence sector for 16 years holding a range of roles including, working with victims/survivors and perpetrators. Her career has predominately been within the Justice system and has also included crisis, therapeutic, education, and men’s behaviour change services. Abbey is currently employed as a ‘Specialist Family Violence Advisor,’ at Forensicare, supporting their MARAM alignment and workforce capacity building. She runs a private practice providing specialist family violence expert witness reports and supervision for practitioners in the family violence and sexual assault field.
