Social workers in mental health have a unique opportunity to empower clients to understand and manage their own mental health, fostering autonomy and resilience. Behavioural Activation (BA) provides an effective framework for this empowerment.
This two-part interactive workshop enables participants to develop skills in a brief evidence informed intervention for use when working in a case management role or in private practice. This will allow attendees to Explain current research that supports the use of BA, Outline the impact of inactivity on a person’s mood and consider the why, how and when to apply BA clinically.
Who should attend?
Social workers and allied health professionals seeking to enhance their ability to implement Behavioral Activation for clients, focusing on those primarily affected by depression and others grappling with a variety of complex issues, aim to develop specialised skills in this therapeutic approach.

Introduction
Learning Session 1: Complete a CBT assessment and formulation:
