LIVE ONLINE WORKSHOP
Capability Level: Evolving & Established
Did you know that men account for 75% of suicides in Australia? This alarming statistic highlights the reality that many men suffer in silence, often feeling they can’t or shouldn’t seek help. As social workers, we are in a unique position to open up those difficult conversations and offer support before it’s too late.
In this session, we’ll explore why men often avoid seeking help, how to recognise the signs of suicide risk, and effective ways to engage with men in a way that feels safe and authentic. It’s about breaking down stigma and meeting men where they are, using tools and strategies that resonate.
By the end of the session, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how to connect with male clients, support their mental health, and make a real impact. Together, let’s challenge the silence and embrace a new approach to men’s mental health.
Who should attend?
This session is suitable for social workers at any level who are working with men or are interested in better supporting men’s mental health. Whether you’re a student, emerging practitioner, or an experienced social worker, this workshop will provide valuable insights and practical strategies for engaging male clients, breaking through stigma, and addressing key mental health challenges, including suicide prevention.
While a foundational understanding of evidence-based psychological strategies will be helpful, this session is designed to be accessible and practical, offering real-world tools to strengthen your approach to men’s mental health. By the end, you’ll feel equipped to create meaningful outcomes and make a lasting impact in the lives of the men you work with.
