This workshop is not a presentation of an academic framework for understanding Family Violence but rather an opportunity to learn in a practical and engaging presentation some of the tools David Nugent has implemented for the last 20 years with hundreds of men.
David will demonstrate his successful blueprint of engaging men: inspiring men to look at themselves and take responsibility for what they can change rather than blaming, making excuses, or justifying their abusive behaviour. David’s approach does not condemn men; but works to empower them to become better men, better partners, better fathers, and role models in our community. David will illustrate how he empowers men to acknowledge that their current behaviour is not just destructive to themselves but also to their partner and, most importantly, any children involved in the relationship.
Who should attend? This workshop is for Allied Health professionals, Counsellors, Social Workers, Psychologist, or anyone working in the space of Domestic/Family Violence.

Presenter
David Nugent, founder of the Heavy M.E.T.A.L (Men’s Education Towards Anger & Life) Group.
David is a recognised psychotherapist who has facilitated over 4000 hours of Men's Behaviour Change Programs. His signature no-nonsense style lived experience, and wealth of knowledge set him apart from others in Men's Behaviour Change work.
Since 2004, through his Group, he has allowed countless men to begin their journey of self-discovery and behavioural change. He inspires men to look at themselves and take responsibility for what they can change rather than blaming, making excuses, or justifying their abusive behaviour. With the recent challenges of the pandemic, David has successfully adapted his Men's Behaviour Change Program to run online. David's program has enabled men across Australia, New Zealand, to Hong Kong to benefit from the program.
David's years of experience have given him great insight into all aspects of men's behaviour and their many struggles. His program is unique, with its open, encouraging, and non-judgmental approach.
