Live Online Workshop
Capability Level: Emerging & Evolving
Social workers play an important role in the mental health sector but can often have difficulty with where their role starts and ends in the mental health field. When our identity as social workers are in question, it can be hard to know ‘how’ to help. However, when we look at core social work principles, we can see ‘there is room for us to work both critically and clinically with the client rather than to see these concepts as mutually exclusive
( Ref. Bland, Renouf and Tullgren 2009).
This workshop will explore the social context for mental health in adolescents. Within these contexts, it will look at the relevance of FPS interventions (motivational interviewing, CBT etc.) and will also look at some tips and tricks for how to engage this age group more effectively using rapport, skill building, and emotional regulation. We will then apply some of these concepts to complex case studies and create case plans that can be immediately used in your own practice.
Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for Emerging and Evolving Learners who are wanting to gain a strong understanding of the social work context when working with adolescents in mental health. Specifically, we will be looking at FPS interventions and how to apply them to your work environment.
