Please join the AASW WA Branch Management Committee (BMC) at our Branch Annual Members Meeting. Keynote speaker for the night to be advised.
We are delighted to announce that Dr Katie Carter will be our keynote speaker for the night: Trauma, Social Work & the Emerging Future.
Addressing growing economic equality, intergenerational trauma and violence are some of the most pressing concerns for the social work profession. Perhaps the greatest challenge is where these co-exist, interrelate and overlap with other disadvantages. Given these pressures what does the voice of social work have to add to the emerging West Australian future? How can we remain relevant in an age of neoliberalism and the marketisation of service delivery?
Dr Katie Carter is the Practice Consultant for Mental Health & Trauma at Anglicare WA. She oversees a portfolio of challenging trauma, mental health and violence related programs across the state. Her private practice is at www.womenkind.com.au
