The AASW-WA Branch is pleased to be hosting ‘Get That Job’, an event for social work students, new graduates and social workers who want to improve their employment opportunities.

At this event you will find out about strategies and tips to improve your interview presence and technique.

  • tips on how to create presence and come across with credibility
  • mock interview - role play if time available

Violet Dhu: Violet has over seventeen years’ experience in helping people develop their interpersonal and communication skills. As an experienced Mental Health Social Worker, Consultant, Speaker, Trainer, and graduate of the Harvard University Negotiation Institute, Violet has worked with many people who are dealing with difficult situations in their workplace and are struggling to be heard. These include difficult conversations, workplace conflict, anxiety, leadership challenges and low self-confidence.

Violet provides training and coaching and keynote speaks in the areas of assertive communication, interpersonal skills, difficult conversations, office etiquette, nonverbal communication and women in leadership. In her career, Violet has helped thousands of people to speak up, communicate effectively, move into leadership and to participate in conversations confidently.

Melinda Misson MHlthCouns Distinction (Curtin) BSW Hons (Curtin) MAASW Acc.
Melinda Misson is an Accredited Social Worker with more than 15 years of direct practice, clinical supervisory and managerial experience. She has worked in both metropolitan and rural/remote contexts; in private, NGO and government sectors and has a range of experience in hospital and population health, community services, specialist mental health, forensic, organisational/occupational, consulting and private practice. She currently employed in the health service in regional Western Australia. She is the proud mother of a soon-to-be graduating social worker and proud nonna to four talented, intelligent and extremely perfect grandchildren!
