Watch the 1.5 hour recording of AASW's Managing Unconscious Bias webinar.

While most of us want to treat all others with respect, compassion, and fairness – the truth is that our perceptions, behaviours and interactions are driven by our biases: beliefs, filters and categorisations that are so ingrained we often don’t realise that we have them.

Social workers each carry their own personal biographies, with a unique set of values, perspectives and unconscious biases: but bringing your best self to the work requires the ability to challenge your own privilege, power, values, perspectives and unconscious biases through critical reflection, and be accountable for their impacts on practice.

This webinar recording identifies the features and dangers of unconscious bias and the value of understanding them. It offers practitioners practical steps for developing their self-awareness and their ability to manage instant responses by questioning their filters and narratives. This skill can help to increase inclusivity and diversity at work with team members, clients, and the community at large.

Who should register? Allied health professionals who wish to advance their professional growth and interpersonal skills by developing their awareness of unconscious biases.

1.5 hours of CPD activity: Category 2, skills and knowledge
