Embodiment and Social Work Practice

Presenter: Jo Mensinga

Jo is a social worker, university lecturer and yoga facilitator. Before joining the academy, she specialised in relationship counselling and was actively involved in women’s issues, child abuse and domestic violence. Jo is fascinated with embodiment and exploring how the body (including the brain) influences the way social workers understand and experience the world. She has recently co-edited a special issue of the Australian Social Work journal on Embodiment and Social Work.
