|Organiser:||Dr Jon Finch|
CPT is an evidence-based, cognitive-behavioural treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It was developed in the late 1980s and has been shown to be effective in reducing PTSD symptoms related to a variety of traumatic events including child abuse, combat, rape and natural disasters. CPT is endorsed by the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defence, as well as the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies, as a best practice for the treatment of PTSD.
This two-day workshop aims to train clinicians to deliver CPT. The training is practice-oriented and includes video clips of expert demonstrations. You will also be provided with a comprehensive manual and client handouts (in hard and soft copy) for clinical use.
After completing the training, participants will be offered the opportunity to join a supervision group, facilitated by Dr Finch, to support their use of CPT with clients.
By the conclusion of this seminar participants will be able to:
- Implement CPT therapy using the manual provided
- Outline the theory behind CPT, and understand how CPT is different to other trauma therapies
- Know how to manage co-morbidities and use CPT to treat complex presentations
- Have knowledge of the evidence base that supports CPT

This workshop is suitable for mental health social workers, who work with traumatised clients.
