General Information

This half day hands-on networking event, will provide an opportunity for participants to develop their creative client engagement skills using art activities and to enhance their use of focused psychological strategies within a networking framework.

The facilitator who is a mental health social worker and art therapist, will share her favourite and most often used art activities with children and young people, she will share how they can enhance evidence based practice, and in addition there will be opportunities for participants to contribute their experiences using creative activities with clients, and to workshop clinical scenarios.

Who should attend?

Social workers, social work students, other allied health or mental health professionals, and counsellors. Particularly those working with children and young people, either in private practice or within an organisation.

No art skills are required, but a willingness to participate in art activities is essential!

What are the learning outcomes for participants?

At the end of this workshop participants will:

  • learn how to use art and other creative activities to enhance their practice with children and young people
  • learn how to combine focused psychological strategies (such as cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and psychoeducation) with art and other creative modalities to improve engagement and client outcomes.
