About the Peer Reflection Group
The Victorian Branch is delighted to offer this initiative developed by our Victorian Mental Health Social Work (VMHSW) Practice Group - A Peer Reflection Group with a focus on Ethical Dilemmas in Mental Health Social Work.
In late 2020, we reached out to social workers in mental health through two focus groups and, based on the input and ideas generated in these focus groups, the Peer Reflection Group has emerged. We welcome social workers who have an interest in exploring ethical dilemmas in a reflective space to join us for one, multiple or all of the upcoming sessions.
Sessions will be held bi-monthly on last Tuesday of every 2nd month via Zoom from 6.30-8pm AEST. The sessions are co-facilitated by Aroon Naidoo and Charlie Evans however, moving forward there will be opportunities for attendees to step into co-facilitation roles if they would like to take a more active role within the group.
It must be emphasised that this is a reflective supportive group and does not replace supervision, there is an expectation all group members are attending supervision. This is an invaluable opportunity to draw on the diverse experience that will exist within the group, to share and to reflection on your own practice.
For the first session of the series, the facilitators will provide a case scenario around which the session will be focussed. Then future group members will be asked to present a practice issue for reflection.
Numbers are limited to approximately 11 per session (plus co-facilitators) and registration is required to attend each session.
Who Are These Sessions For?
These sessions are open to any social workers working in mental health who are interested to be involved in this unique facilitator-led, peer reflection opportunity.
