Meeting Focus
Welcoming social workers to our June meeting!
The convenors are delighted to announce that Mr Robert Fitzgerald, AM, the NSW Ageing and Disability Commissioner who investigates abuse and neglect, will be our guest speaker on 7 June, 6.00-8.00 pm Zoom.
Robert Fitzgerald, AM will bring a wealth of experience and insights to our meeting.
‘Mr. Fitzgerald, a lawyer by profession, brings a significant amount of experience to this role, having been previously appointed as a Productivity Commissioner, Community and Disability Services Commissioner and Deputy Ombudsman in NSW.
The Australian Government appointed Mr. Fitzgerald as a Commissioner on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, from 2013 to 2017. Mr. Fitzgerald was also appointed to Chair the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission Advisory Board for three years from 2012.
Importantly, Mr. Fitzgerald was the convenor of the Indigenous Disadvantage Working Group of the Steering Committee for the Review of Government Service Provision for over 9 years.’

General Information
This meeting is proudly organised by the Individual Funding Social Work Practice Group (IFSWPG).
The IFSWPG offers peer support and information sharing to any social worker interested in individualised funding services. This includes individual practice, community development and service system design in the disability and aged care fields amongst others. Disability services are being transformed by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and aged care by consumer directed care (CDC) and new roles and opportunities are evolving that are available to social workers.
