Effective leaders are skilled at fostering environments that support their teams to be resilient and thrive, even through the toughest of challenges.
“Who we are is how we lead” Brene Brown
Around 80% of a leader’s role has nothing to do with the actual skills of their team: it requires a different skillset, one that is new to many supervisors who find themselves in this demanding but rewarding role. These skills include the ability to engage, inspire, motivate, and drive their team’s performance.
Effective leadership encourages teams to deliver outcomes, support clients effectively, and develop individual team members’ potential. Most social work practices are needing to do more with less, and this key influence for performance cannot be overlooked.
This workshop will introduce you to critical leadership skills for navigating day-to-day workplace challenges and manage team behaviour and performance.
"This training was really affirmative and allowed a reflective space to build on leadership in the workplace- really great journey on the individual and community focus" - Workshop participant, October 2021.
Who should attend? Anyone in a leadership role, who wants to understand how to support and motivate teams of social workers. Emerging and New Leaders are also welcome to join us in exploring this key skillset.
3.5 hours of CPD activity: Category 2, skills and knowledge
Participants will be able to:
- Describe the characteristics of an effective leader
- Identify how effective leadership improves productivity and work satisfaction within a team
- Develop strategies for positive engagement and support team collaboration
- Reflect on how to implement effective leadership practices in their own workplace
