Managing Emotions (ME) online 10 Session DBT program will offer health care professionals the opportunity to learn how to conduct a DBT informed Skills Training Program and ow to conduct DBT Informed Individual Sessions with clients. The 10 sessions includes skills from the modules Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance , Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness as well as instruction on how to do a diary and chain analysis.

Learner prerequisites

Anybody who is qualified to work with clients who have difficulty managing their emotions. This could be Counsellors, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists. Art Therapists. Students of these professions could learn how to co-facilitate groups and learn about DBT Skills.

Presenter details

Megan Shiell is the Principal and Founder of Expressive Therapy Clinic. She provides Individual therapy using DBT and Art Psychotherapy to clients and specializes in training other Health Care Professionals. Megan is enthusiastic about how DBT can assist sufferers of emotional dysregulation. She has trained many allied health professionals in the use of DBT alone and also in the use of DBT alongside an experiential therapy, Art Therapy. Megan has presented both in Australia and internationally on the subject of DBT/Art Therapy and its uses in mental health arenas and has published her work in ANZJAT Vol 3 2008. Megan is an invited guest lecture for the Master of Psychology students at Bond University. Megan presents her work widely at Mental Health conferences both in Australia and overseas.
