This year the AASW will be part of the iconic Midsumma Pride March for the first time ever!

Join the AASW contingent, and thousands of other Melburnians, to celebrate and support solidarity in gender and sexuality diversity.

We invite members, the broader social work community, their friends and family to join us.

Please do register here so that we have a sense of the numbers and so that we can keep you informed of the precise details of times, meeting points, and any other critical information in the lead up to the event.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Anneka or Rosanna at the Victorian Branch via email aaswvic@aasw.asn.au or by phone on 9320 1012.

This is a free event.

KEY DETAILS

We are in Wave R and we are No. 18 in this wave. We need to be assembled and ready to depart from The Ian Johnson Oval PRIOR TO 11:30am on the day.

The March starts from the Ian Johnson Oval near the top of Fitzroy Street (between Canterbury Road and Lakeside Drive) and heads straight down Fitzroy Street to the Catani Gardens on the St Kilda Foreshore. Walk time is about 20 minutes. The March starts at 11am but as we're a bit later in the line-up, we will depart the oval around 11:30am.

Look out for the AASW Banner and your representative Anneka Farrington, the Victorian Branch Manager, who will be at the oval from 10am onward.

Dress colourful but comfortable!

It is going to be VERY HOT. So please make sure you're well hydrated and sunsmart!

Bring your colleagues, friends and family! The more the merrier!

And finally, the motto of the Pride March is Respect Each Other - Together We March. The Midsumma Pride March brings together diverse groups, personalities, perspectives, sexualities, genders and experiences. Everyone who marches deserves to feel safe and belong. Remember we are stronger as one and greater together, so treat each other with respect on the day.
