Mindfulness and Self Compassion workshop: Therapeutic Foundations and Applied Mindfulness for Professional Practice and Self-Care
|Date:||1 September 2018|
The outstanding value of mindfulness in numerous settings has been well documented in the mental health and well-being literature for several decades. In more recent years, ground-breaking research shows that when mindfulness is integrated with the practice of self-compassion, the capacity of practitioners to be mindfully present in the pain or suffering of others is enhanced, while their capacity to improve the way they relate to others and to themselves is substantially increased and more personally satisfying.
Practitioners of mindfulness and self-compassion are able to respond to difficult moments with kindness, care and understanding. They experience improved emotional well-being, less anxiety and depression. They maintain healthier lifestyle habits. They enjoy more satisfying personal relationships.
Note: AASW members can claim 8 CPD hours under Focussed Psychological Strategies, towards their mental health accreditation.
This highly experiential one-day workshop will enable participants:
- To understand the therapeutic foundations of applied mindfulness and self-compassion practice,
- To practice skills and strategies for enhanced self-care, and
- To teach their patients, clients, or students a range of simple
practices which enables them to be their own great ally in times of stress and anxiety.
The course will be led by Suzanne Smith: Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy, Master of Social Work, Master of Business, Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Trained Teacher in Mindful Self-Compassion.
