oin Mindfulness trainer, Suzie Brown for this experiential workshop which will give you the skills to:
- Reduce feelings of stress and emotional overwhelm
- Have more space to choose your reactions more wisely
- Handle difficult events with a lot more ease
- Let go after your work is over and relax more easily
- Work more effectively with your clients through being more focused and aware, listening more deeply and handling difficult behaviours more easily.
- Have a basic mindfulness toolkit you can offer to your clients, such as awareness of emotions, breath meditation and more.
The workshop will include the following skills and tools:
- understanding of the causes of stress and how mindfulness helps you to reduce it.
- everyday mindfulness tools and practices to do at work and at home including breath meditation, walking meditation, mindfulness of emotions,
- mindful listening and communicating.
- skills to use at work when engaging with challenging clients or situations.
- tools you can offer to clients to help them be calmer and more aware of their reactions.
- case study interviews with others who have applied mindfulness at work.
In the workshop you’ll receive a workbook with full workshop notes and a journal to use at home. You’ll receive audio guided meditations to take home and continue to practice, as well as a Reminder Wallcard and further reading. After the workshop you’ll receive an email course which will help you to implement what you have learned at the workshop to bring ease into your everyday working life. You’ll also be invited to future Retreat Days and online meditation sessions.
This workshop does not just end when you go home from the workshop. Suzie will support you to keep practicing and really make mindfulness part of your lifestyle.
Your trainer on the day will be Suzie Brown – she draws on her training as a teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and many years of Insight meditation practice and teaching to offer this experiential workshop.
The workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.
Learning objectives

Presenter details
Suzie Brown, B.A. Hons/B.Bus, M.Soc.Sci
Suzie Brown founded Avista Mindfulness in 2010 after training with Openground (now the MTIA) to teach Jon Kabat-Zinn's internationally renowned Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. This is one of only two internationally-recognised mindfulness qualifications in Australia. Suzie is also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with Russ Harris.
Suzie is co-founder of the Melbourne Insight Meditation Group which runs weekly meditation sessions plus regular workshops and retreats in the Western Buddhist tradition. She teaches regular Insight workshops and hosts a sitting group in Geelong. Suzie has taught Mindfulness to medical students at Monash University with Dr. Craig Hassed.
Suzie has also been a facilitator, trainer and educator for 15 years in the areas of environmental sustainability and organizational strategy, running her own consulting business for the last 10 years. With many years working in strategy and facilitation, Suzie brings this experience to the public and workplace mindfulness programs she offers in the Melbourne and Geelong regions.
