This is a recording of one of the concurrent workshops from the AASW National Symposium in November 2015. The workshop was presented by Bobbi Henao Urrego on "Leadership theory and social work: how to use your skills for workplace and service development".
Opportunity to create and develop ideas for leadership within teams, organisations and communities. This session will discuss social work theory in relation to leadership theory and the interrelation of skills and knowledge that exist. Using real clinical examples of leadership and service delivery development it aims at empowering social workers to use their skills to create and lead their initiatives and visions, it will encourage people to draw from their skills and experience to address needs of their teams, organisations and communities on a larger scale.
- Development of knowledge in leadership theory;
- Understanding of the links to between social work and leadership theory;
- How to develop ideas into plans and outcomes.
Bobbi Henao Urrego is the Social Work Manager at Sydney Hospital & Sydney Eye Hospital, and has extensive experience working in New South Wales Health. Having previously trained at the Universities of New South Wales and Sydney, she is currently undertaking a Masters of Public Health and Masters of Health Management. Bobbi has a strong interest in how Social Workers can contribute to their workplaces using their Social Work skills and in service development.
