This is a recording of one of the concurrent sessions from the AASW National Symposium 2015. The session was entitled "Organisational Leadership and the Sanctuary Model in an Australian context".
The Sanctuary Model®, a whole of system trauma informed model, strives to actively create and maintain non-violent, democratic therapeutic care environments which stakeholders are empowered as key decision makers to build responsive, emotionally intelligent communities that value growth and change.
An understanding of:
- the key elements of the Sanctuary theories
- what S.E.L.F is
- the commitments and tools the Sanctuary Model provides
- the links between the Sanctuary Model and how this informs the development of an organisational leadership framework in an NGO
- model alignment with the AASW Code of Ethics
has a Masters of Social Work and over 19 years practice experience. Annaley has worked across government and non government services in the area of child protection, counseling, early intervention and prevention, and out of home care in direct care, management and more recently senior practice roles. Annaley has worked with the Sanctuary Model for over 5 years in two different organisations and recently became a peer certifier for the Sanctuary Institute in Yonkers New York.
has a Masters of Social work and over 13 years experience working with people with disabilities and over 14 years working across government and non government services in child protection, domestic violence and out of home care in both management and practice roles. Kate has been a part of the implementation of the Sanctuary Model in a large faith based non government organisation.
