The AASW is currently preparing a submission to the Family Violence Implementation Monitor around:

  • How the family violence service system, and users’ experience of it, has changed since the Royal Commission.
  • Looking forward: what is still required in the family violence reforms.
  • Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To ensure we’re advocating with the most recent experience and knowledge from our members, we’re holding consultation sessions with interested members to express their voice and contribute to our submission.

We are keen to hear from members working with people who have experienced or perpetrated family violence – in both specialist family violence services and generalist services such as health, legal assistance and housing.

In this 90-minute group consultation, we’ll be generating discussion around the key questions developed by the Monitor.

To best prepare for joining this consultation we recommend that participants review the following and consider contributions toward:

Key Questions

The Victorian Auditor General's Report on Managing Support and Safety Hubs (May 2020)

This session will be facilitated by a member of our Branch Management Committee and will feed into the submission which will be prepared collaboratively by the Branch and our National Social Policy and Advocacy Team.

We warmly welcome the participation of Victorian members.

If you are unable to participate in this particular consultation there are several options to contribute:

  1. We have a second consultation to be held on Monday 13 July at 2pm (please register here)
  2. We have a brief member survey that we would appreciate you completing here
  3. You are welcome to make your own submission as in individual practitioner to the Family Violence Implementation Monitor

Furthermore, we are hoping to include a lived-experience perspective in our submission and would very much like to hear from members who would be willing to share their experience with us. If you are keen to contribute in this way, please make contact with Anneka at the Victorian Branch and we'll arrange to have a chat.
