AASW welcomes the creation of the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commissioner role and the appointment of social worker Micaela Cronin.
The inaugural commissioner has a deep connection to community services and an understanding of the issues that marginalised people face, including women experiencing family, domestic and sexual violence.
We look forward to working with Ms Cronin in advocating for wrap-around responses, resources and collaboration to address family and sexual violence.
It starts with cultural change, listening to survivors and a properly resourced and trained workforce to deal with the current crisis.
When you join the AASW you’ll become part of an active and vibrant community of more than 17,000 social work professionals. As the profession’s peak body, the AASW is committed to maintaining high standards, ethical practice and ongoing professional development.
