Submission to Revenue NSW regarding Work Development Orders
AASW NSW has recommended that Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSW) be approved to sponsor Work Development Orders (WDO) by Revenue NSW.
Work Development Orders allow eligible vulnerable people to satisfy their fine debt through unpaid work with an approved organisation or by undertaking certain courses or treatment. The order can be ‘sponsored’ (developed/approved) by a health practitioner, but social workers are not currently approved for this role. The NSW Branch, together with members of the Self Employed Social Workers Practice Group, has made a submission for AMHSWs to be approved for this purpose.
