THIS week saw more than 100 delegates descend upon Alice Springs for the Australian Association of Social Workers’ Northern Territory Branch conference.

The two and a half day event provided networking opportunities for social workers and allied health professionals from all over Australia to learn about innovative practices and share stories.

Executive committee member Denise Grieshaber said this was a particularly exciting time.

“The branch holds a conference every two years; this is the first time that it’s ever been held in Alice Springs. So we’re very excited about having burst through the Berrimah Line,” she said.

The theme for this year’s conference was Dust, Diversity and Dedication aimed at capturing the variety and complexity of social work practice across rural and remote areas. The conference coincided with World Social Work Day.
