Give a little. Change a lot: AASW celebrates the contribution of volunteers during National Volunteer Week

Published: 22 May 2018

National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration which recognises the contribution of volunteers in Australia. This year, it will be held between 21-27 May, with the theme Give a little. Change a lot.

AASW CEO Cindy Smith acknowledged the contribution of volunteers to the Association and the profession.

Ms Smith said, “As an Association, we rely on dedicated and skilled volunteers who are prepared to share their knowledge and expertise with their peers and to nurture the future of the profession.”

The AASW began as a voluntary organisation in 1946. It originally had 400 members and was administered by volunteers. It now has more than 11,100 members supported by a Board, staff and branches in each state and territory. More than 300 AASW members are active volunteers who continue to have a critical role in the organisation.

Volunteering Australia has resources to celebrate National Volunteer Week on their website.
