Expressions of interest

The AASW is intending to launch a renewed Ethics Complaints System and Ethics By-Laws to address allegations of both misconduct and serious misconduct against AASW members in their conduct and practice as social workers.

The AASW is pleased to accept Expressions of Interest from senior social workers who have complaint handling experience and /or workplace managerial responsibilities for the positions identified which will play a crucial part in the regulation of the social work profession and its adherence to the AASW Code of Ethics.

Please submit the following details in support of your EOI to Sofie Fabre, Professional Standards Manager

  1. Role/s in which you are interested
  2. A short summary of why you are interested in the role and any relevant experience or expertise in the skill areas required.
  3. Copy of your current CV
  4. Names and positions of two referees in your professional sphere whom you would be happy to be contacted by the AASW regarding your capacity to perform in these roles.

Location of roles: The roles will predominantly be performed by electronic correspondence and teleconferencing.

Expenses and payment: Expenses will be paid.

The Ethics Council Roles include a Chair estimated to involve 3-6 hours per month and an Ethic Council Member at 2-4 hours per month. Both these roles will involve a payment of an annual honorarium.

There will be several Case Reviewer and Conciliator Roles, as well as Hearing and Appeal Members appointed. These will be paid consultant positions on an as required basis.

The Case Reviewer and Conciliator roles are likely to involve fairly regular pieces of work while the Hearing and Appeals panel roles are expected to involve less regular assignments.

Closing date for Expressions of Interest: The Ethics Council roles are now filled. Expressions of interest for the other listed positions are open until further notice.
