Queensland Branch Annual Members Meeting

The Queensland Branch Management Committee will hold a members' meeting on Wednesday 24th October 2018, from 6.00pm to 7.30pm via videoconference. The decision to hold this meeting online is made in the interests of providing all members with equal access and opportunity to participate in the meeting. The meeting will only be accessible to active members of the Association.

The Branch encourages all members to register to attend the meeting to discuss the activities of the past year, the priorities of the forthcoming year and to vote to fill the vacant positions on the Branch Management Committee. The formal proceedings of the meeting will be preceded with a reflection from outgoing Branch President, Dr Fotina Hardy, on a decade of serving on the Branch Management Committee and her hopes for the Branch into the future.

Branch Management Committee vacancies

The Queensland Branch has FOUR vacant positions for general Committee Members on our Branch Management Committee.

We are now seeking nominations for these vacant positions. We are seeking reliable, committed and enthusiastic Queensland AASW members who have an interest in contributing to the work of the Queensland Branch to join our active and vibrant Committee. For information on the roles and responsibilities of these positions, and to access nomination forms and candidate statement forms, follow the link to the registration page.

We strongly encourage those considering nominating to be available, if elected, for the final face to face/videoconference meeting of the Committee in 2018 (Saturday 17 November, 9am to 2.00pm). Nomination forms can be submitted via email to the following address: aaswqld@aasw.asn.au by no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 24 October 2018. Nomination forms received after this time, may not be accepted.

In the event that the number of nominations exceeds the number of the positions available, an election will be held during the Members Meeting. During this process, the nominees will be provided with up to two minutes to deliver a candidate statement. We ask all candidates to submit a candidate statement of no more than 500 words that may be read out by the Returning Officer or delegate acting on behalf of the AASW should you be unable to join the meeting. All financial members will be provided with the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidates, through a proxy vote if they are unable to attend the meeting in person. Details regarding proxy voting will be provided closer to the Branch Annual Members Meeting once we know the number of nominations received.

We encourage you to consider becoming part of our Branch Management Committee and look forward to receiving your nomination form. Should you have any questions or concerns, please call the Queensland Branch on 07 3090 3718 or email aaswqld@aasw.asn.au.
