The purpose of this group is to provide a platform for new social workers in Victoria to network, support one another and create professional development opportunities by:

  • Engaging with and welcoming new social workers
  • Maintain an active link with universities, employers and the professional association
  • Planning and creating networking opportunities eg: panel events with social workers for various organisations
  • Continued Professional Development activities and links with other human services organisation and professional bodies and establishing strong partnerships
  • Develop, coordinate and run events for graduates
  • Participating in direct action and political activism. This includes attending marches and protests and contributing to open inquiries
  • Implementing peer support
  • Functioning as a peer group in which contemporary professional issues and challenges can be discussed openly and safely
  • Discussing any matters that may be impeding ability to function as a social worker
  • Acting as a voice for the social work graduate cohort
  • Providing feedback to the AASW that will encourage the development of social work in Victoria.


All members and the committee of this group will be all under 2 years of post qualifying in social work.
