Marketing and Communications Officer

$75k - $80k + Super [3 month fixed term pro-rata]

Melbourne based/ part work from home

The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) is the professional representative body of social workers in Australia, with more than 14,000 members. Reporting to the Manager Marketing and Communications, this role is responsible for the development and implementation of publications, marketing and communications activities that communicate successfully with our target audiences, increase our brand awareness and promote our products and services.

For the contracted term of 3 months, this role will work closely with the Manager to implement the relevant strategies and related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement marketing and communications strategies covering AASW’s marketing and communications activities and delivery channels.
  • Work with the Manager Marketing and Communications to maintain an overview of AASW’s marketing and communication channels and activities (internal and external).
  • Maintain and publicise a marketing and communications schedule covering all cyclical publications.
  • Provide copy-writing, content development and/or editorial support for AASW’s marketing and communications activities (internal/external) as required, including media releases, social policy communications, publications/journals, factsheets, newsletters etc.
  • Work in close collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely and effective co-ordination, production and dissemination of a range of communications material including media releases, National e-bulletin (fortnightly) Social Work Focus (quarterly), publications etc.
  • Effectively work with external stakeholders such as designers, advertisers, publishers and content providers to ensure effective product design and delivery.
  • Regularly review and evaluate brand use and awareness.
  • Provide required data analytics and relevant reporting.

Key selection criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with SEO and SEM.
  • Experience with Digital Marketing and related data analytics.
  • Proven professional level marketing and communication skills and experience: demonstrated through extensive experience of producing content for a wide range of purposes and audiences and delivering through a range of media channels.
  • Proven experience and capability in collaborating with external stakeholders including media relations, issues management, digital communications and campaign development.
  • Proven experience in implementing communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Experience of effectively working with designers, sponsor and advertisers.
  • Proven expertise in maintaining quality control over publications and marketing collateral with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Extensive experience of working across marketing and communications portfolios.
  • Proven project management skills and demonstrated experience in the delivery of multifaceted communications projects.

Branch Service Co-ordinator

Full time / part time considered [fixed term 12 months]

Salary circa $70k + super, Melbourne based

Reporting to the Member Services Team Leader, this role is responsible for:

  • Scheduling, coordinating and attending Branch Management Committee (BMC) meetings and other meetings as required, ensuring associated meeting documentation and papers are prepared and circulated in a timely and professional manner.
  • Providing administration support, particularly in relation to taking and preparing minutes of meetings, agenda preparation, circulation and related activities.
  • Operating as the key point of contact for responding to Branch enquiries.
  • Working with relevant AASW departments to ensure processing of invoices, reconciliation of payments, management of records and data management compliance.
  • Coordinating CPD activities for members including the promotion of activities, coordinating member bookings, room and catering bookings.
  • Building collaborative operating arrangements and CPD related information sharing across the Branch.

  • Actively engaging with key stakeholder groups/institutions.

Online Community Manager - Melbourne based

Part time 3 days [0.6FTE] fixed term 2 years

Reporting to the National Manager Membership Engagement, the primary purpose of this role is to drive current and new member engagement and retention via the AASW Social Work Australia Community by building and maintaining strategic, qualified engagement in the community.

This new position will invigorate, raise brand awareness through building a dynamic and engaged online community.

Your key responsibilities will include [not limited to] the following:

  • Building and maintaining strategic, qualified engagement in the community (via conversational tactics and content creation)
  • Implementing and optimising desired member/user journeys
  • Governance setting and maintenance, including moderation, risk management and issues escalation
  • Leading the tone and culture of the community via social norms, rituals and focused interactions
  • Regular measurement and reporting on success and health metrics (business and social/communal)
  • Implementing reputation and recognition programs
  • Building and maintaining strategic relationships with key community participants based on organisational objectives (e.g. founding members, subject matter experts, influencers)
  • Working cross-departmentally to create and communicate community value
  • Organising and refreshing the community for optimal user experience and outcomes (e.g. archiving content no longer useful)
  • Reporting community intelligence and insights to leadership and stakeholders
  • Spokesperson for the community internally and externally, if required
  • Related work for the organisation around the community; e.g. creating content about or representing the community for peers, customers or the media

Key selection criteria:

  • Bachelor of Social Work Degree 5+ year experience within the industry

The IQA Officer is responsible for managing the AASW’s program for the membership eligibility assessments of people with overseas social work qualifications, including those social workers who intend to migrate to Australia.

  • compiling documents according to systems and pro-formas;
  • scheduling meetings;
  • drafting meeting minutes and agendas;
  • record keeping and data management in a SharePoint environment;
  • secretarial assistance to the legal counsel
  • the compilation of monthly or other reports as requested under guidance;
  • updating forms and information e.g. information for the AASW website, e-bulletin

Professional Officer - Ethics & Standards

Position Overview:

  • Delivering the AASW’s Ethics and Standards Consultation Service with support and training provided
  • Participating in the delivery of the Ethics Complaints Management Process
  • Developing, reviewing and monitoring professional standards and guidelines.

An exciting opportunity for a seasoned Social Worker to expand their career into the field of Ethics. The Professional Officer, Ethics and Standards will work within the AASW’s Ethics Framework and collaborate within relevant program areas across the department and will be supported by the Team Leader Ethics and Standards.

The Ethics and Practice Standards Consultation Service is a free service for members to consider, discuss and process ethical dilemmas and ethical practice issues. The ethics officer may research and then provide verbal or written information in relation to ethics and practice issues and assist in linking ethical and best practice decision making to the Code of Ethics, Practice Standards and broader ethical and practice theories.

You will also support a best practice approach and ensure complaints are processed through the Ethics Complaints Management Process in a timely manner and in accord with the governance processes as set out in the AASW By Laws on Ethics and other relevant guiding documentation.

On occasions you will assist in the review and implementation of practice standards and development of improved processes and other key initiatives to support and embed positive conduct, identification and reporting of integrity and ethics matters.

The Ethics Officer is responsible for:

  • Delivering the AASW’s Ethics and Standards Consultation Service with support and training provided
  • Participating in the delivery of the Ethics Complaints Management Process
  • Co-ordination of complaints of alleged breaches of AASW’s Code of Ethics in accordance with the AASW By Laws on Ethics and the Ethics Complaint Management Process
  • Administrative tasks associated with managing the files associated with alleged complaints in accord with Privacy legislation
  • Contribute to the Professional Standards documentation as required in collaboration with the Team Leader, Professional Standards and Ethics
  • Reviewing and monitoring professional standards and guidelines.
  • Preparation of monthly or other reports as requested.

Key selection criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work and minimum 3 years experience as a Social Worker
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Demonstrated high-level communication skills including verbal, written and report writing skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and to respond flexibly to changing circumstances
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Experience in mentoring or leadership
  • Ability to ensure privacy and confidentiality over information provided, as appropriate
