Branch – Queensland
The QLD Branch is supported by a Branch Management Committee elected by the Branch membership. We service and represent Social Workers in Southern Queensland from the southern border to Gladstone (below Latitude 22 south).
The Branch’s key role is to provide local support for AASW members through a range of activities that enable members to network, develop practice skills and organise around social justice issues.

2024 UniSC Qld AASW Social Worker of the Year Award Winner - Julia Laning
On 1 May 2024 the University of the Sunshine Coast held their Student Awards at the Sippy Downs Campus. QLD AASW Branch President Leonie Vela attended the Awards and was pleased to witness Deputy Vice Chancellor Michael Wilmore present Master of Social Work student, Julia Laning with the QLD AASW 2024 Social Work Student of the Year Award.
