About AASW

The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) is the professional body for social workers in Australia. As well as representing and supporting social workers in their essential work, we set the benchmarks for professional education and practice in social work.

Our vision

Wellbeing and social justice for all.

Our purpose

Supporting social workers and empowering the profession to make a positive difference.

The AASW strives to fulfill its purpose by:

  • advancing a strong identity for the social work profession
  • fostering a well-trained, highly skilled social work profession
  • being a strong voice for social workers and social justice
  • delivering operational excellence

Our members

AASW’s membership of more than 17,000 social workers includes Accredited Social Workers, as well as students, recent graduates and other social workers who may be seeking accreditation. Our members work across private practice, government and non-government organisations.

Why join AASW?

Learn, grow and progress

Access our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program via member-only prices. Our content, workshops and training events will support you to broaden your skills and stay informed of changes in the practice environment.

Connect with colleagues

AASW Community Hub is an online community for members. It is a valuable networking space, enabling members to connect with colleagues. Our Mentoring Program is another opportunity for social workers to grow and share their professional knowledge.

Promote your practice

Private practitioners can promote their practice and services on the AASW Find a Social Worker online directory. Members of the community and referring health professionals can use the directory to find practitioners by name, location or services offered.
