We are pleased to advise Members that the resolution put to vote at the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Australian Association of Social Workers, held online on 31 July 2025 at 4:00pm (AEST), has been successful.

The proposal to amend the AASW Constitution, to separate the current combined Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Director position into two distinct roles, was supported by over 82% of Members who participated in the vote.

The Board acknowledges the significant contribution of former Director and National President, Linda Ford, whose leadership and advocacy for many years were instrumental in initiating the Constitutional amendment.

This outcome affirms the AASW’s ongoing commitment to inclusive and culturally representative governance. An updated Constitution will be published shortly.
