Bridge & Connect is a welcoming new networking and support group for international social work graduates and migrant social workers in NSW, offering connection, shared experiences and a strong sense of professional community.
Bridge & Connect is a new networking and support group for international social work graduates and migrant social workers living and working in New South Wales.
Starting out, or starting again, in a new country can feel isolating. Internationally trained social workers often navigate unique challenges, understanding the Australian practice context, employment pathways, professional registration, cultural competence, and complex government systems. Just as importantly, many are seeking connection and a space where their experiences are genuinely understood. Bridge & Connect has been created to provide exactly that.
This group offers a safe, collegial and practical space to:
- Build meaningful professional connections
- Share lived and professional experiences
- Access career guidance and local insights
- Reduce isolation and strengthen confidence in practice
How the group works
Meetings will be held bi-monthly, alternating between:
- Peer supervision and reflective practice sessions
- Guest speaker events featuring experienced social workers and sector leaders
The format is supportive, inclusive and grounded in real-world practice.
Our inaugural event is an opportunity to:
- Meet fellow international and migrant social workers
- Learn about the vision and structure of Bridge & Connect
- Begin building lasting professional relationships
- Help shape what this community becomes
- Whether you are newly arrived, recently graduated, or have been practising in Australia for some time and are seeking stronger professional connection, you belong here.
